Challenge what is presented as "reality".

In living memory the arts were without fear, and by virtue of this they were free, and freedom of thought was not suppressed by cultural forces as it is now.  Challenge the accepted to bring change.

Week 7 2/16/20

Belief shapes perception, each influencing and directing the other.

Thus creative thought is constructive, oriented through foresight gained by continual effort.

Consider outcomes and move toward them.

Week 6 2/9/20

Vision centers consciousness, and expands both.

Observe cultures that are unified by shared visions, in contrast with those that fail.

Week 5 2/2/20

Expression is representation.

Grasp the real, give freely of the truth.

Week 4 1/26/20

Cycles are continuous, and dynamic.

Things move ahead, go far afield, and return to their origins.

This is a truth of life, and of art.

Week 3 1/19/20

Choose to move forward.

Advance in idea and in action. This is an individual choice, with rewards and consequences.

Week 2 1/12/2020

Real individual freedom demands discipline and a sense of duty to last beyond the mere moment.

The artist must transcend those things that culture and society refuse to move beyond.  False values, collective conformity, failed philosophies-- all these are obstacles that must be overcome.

Dismiss the subjective.

Observe and give due consideration to the surroundings. 

Deny false perspectives and they become obvious.

Reflect forward.

In creative action, move with grace and confidence.  Envision and make real.

It is as simple, and as difficult, as this.

Consider the impact and influence of music in space and time.

Expand your thinking. Go beyond the mundane.  Always.

Think ahead.  See ahead.

Freedom is a creative act.

Cultural oppression yields conflict. 

The creative voice refuses to be silenced.

Week 48 12/1/19

One may say that day is night and night is day, but the absurd turns upon itself.

The real revolution upon the horizon is not against government, but against the oppressive dominant culture that fails our deepest human needs.

Week 47 11/24/19

Recognize authenticity.

This is more than discriminating between the artificial and the natural, and demands a sense of what is true and what is false.

Week 46 11/17/19

The artist conceives and executes. This is common knowledge.

What is not always understood is that if there is not a means to execute the conception, the artist must create such a means.

Week 45 11/10/19

There will always be elements within a culture that seek to manage a decline of that culture.

When these these social and political elements are ascendant, they align to crush individual freedom.  This is a warning against the origins of totalitarianism, and the mechanisms by which it seeks to destroy freedom of thought and expression.

They cannot defeat armies, so first they strangle the Arts.

Week 44 11/3/19

Without question, culture will dictate the direction of art.

Therefore culture, its premises, and its adherents must be questioned, and often defied.

Week 43 10/27/19

Observe the extent to which culture colors perception.

In doing so, consider and adapt creative design and application accordingly.

Week 42 10/20/19

The shock of vision insists upon creative realization.

The era of critical upheaval brings about change and enlightenment. This does not happen on its own or in a vacuum, as it were.  It is subject to many things, among them materialism and cultural stereotypes that must be transcended.  What does this mean?

There is no cliche, only the failure to regard forward thinking.

Progress is a function of intent, driven by dynamic and momentum.  Expand your thinking to grasp application of force.
